What is the Meira Memorial Fund?

The Meira Memorial Fund (Meira) is a non-profit foundation that was created in 2022 in memory of Lindsey Sine who lost her courageous battle with depression in May of 2022 at the age of 38. Meira means “giving light” which is a beautiful reflection of everything Lindsey embodied. She was radiant, luminous, and her light was genuinely infectious. She shone with authenticity and met everyone with generosity, she made those around her feel important and heard. As a mother of 3 herself, Lindsey had a passion for helping mothers; she believed strongly in the power of community. After moving to Cochrane after her first child, Lindsey experienced firsthand the importance of creating a supportive community in motherhood and from that moment on she made it her mission to ensure other women didn’t have to feel that isolation or loneliness.

Lindsey was a self-described “connector person”. Her work at Shifra was a project of the heart, her goal was to cultivate a safe and supportive community and she made sure that every woman who stepped through Shifra’s doors felts seen and supported.

The Meira Memorial Fund has been created to continue Lindsey’s legacy. Our mission is to provide support to women struggling with mental health by creating a safe and caring space where women can connect with others and access help outside of conventional treatment options that will support their mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing.
